Thailand’s northernmost province, Chiang Rai is located 500 miles from Bangkok and borders Myanmar to the north and Laos to the east. With mainly mountainous terrain the province forms part of the famous ‘Golden Triangle’ around the mighty Mekong River. One of the main reasons to visit the region is to trek to the villages that are home to local hill tribes.
