A location brimming with culture

Turkey is a beautiful country that deserves to be explored. Here you’ll find jagged mountains framing hidden coves and cascading waterfalls, and vast Aegean olive groves dotted with gigantic olive trees that are picked to create the velvety olive oil you’ll regularly find on your table. Along the coastline, you’ll come across charming coastal resorts brimming with bustling bazaars. The most famous of all is Istanbul, a vibrant city that embodies Turkey’s multitude of cultural influences.

Why visit Turkey?

  • The food. Dining is a major social element in the Turkish lifestyle, with many locals frequently gathering together to feast on delicious food al fresco. Grab a seat at one of the local restaurants and your table will be inundated with roasted Aegean vegetables coated in the finest olive oil, spicy meat kebabs that easily fall apart and are dotted with fresh yoghurt, and sickly-sweet baklava alongside a warm tulip glass filled with çay.
  • Turkey’s ancient history and culture is incredibly vast, pulling from the east and west to create a diverse mix of Greek, Roman, western and Ottoman influences. Nowadays, you can discover fascinating ruins and monuments to get a grasp of this varied past, including the Basilica Cistern – the largest of hundreds of ancient cisterns sitting 500 feet underneath the city of Istanbul.
  • Turkey’s locations are so diverse. Our favourites include Cappadocia - an otherworldly region where mysterious cone-shaped rock formations are home to carved houses and underground cities, as well as Bodrum’s bustling yet blissful coastline of small coves and a medieval fortress. If hiking brings you joy, there are many beautiful places that you can explore, including Ihlara Valley – a jaw-dropping gorge cut into volcanic rock. Our chosen hotel resides in a stunning port city called Fethiye, enveloped by lush greenery and laced with a glistening natural harbour.
  • The famous city of Istanbul is busy, fun and cultural. Take a wander through the vibrant bazaars and jaw-dropping mosques, stopping by cool restaurants and noticing how there’s a juxtaposing mix of Roman-era architecture and modern luxury hotels. The Grand Bazaar enlightens the senses with its rows of local delicacies and textiles, whilst the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia Museum brings stories from the past to life.
