A beautiful island with a mix of cultures

Reunion is an enclave of French charm set on a paradise island. It’s not a nation in its own right but actually an overseas region of France itself. But if you’re looking for Paris in the Indian Ocean, you won’t find it here. Reunion has a character all to itself, blending influences from Africa, India and beyond.

There are beautiful beaches, of course, but a holiday here offers a lot more than just golden sun, white sand and blue sky. The rugged and verdant interior has an abundance of stunning natural sights. The culture is a fusion of French, African, Indian and Chinese making for an exciting mix of customs and traditions. You are just as likely to hear traditional choral music as Muslim prayer chants or African drums when walking the picturesque streets. The National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site and truly something spectacular to explore.

The population is hugely varied in terms of their heritage and background. European, Indian and African ancestry has blended together harmoniously. The dominant religious on the island is Roman Catholicism.

Why visit Reunion?

  • Unique and beautiful scenery – rolling greenery and rocky peaks
  • Visit a stunning island in the Indian Ocean with a distinctly French flavour
  • Amazing beaches that are surprisingly quiet
  • Go trekking in the wilderness
  • Friendly capital of Saint Denis
