Useful Facts

Flight and Transfers

Flights from Dublin to Kuala Lumpur International Airport take approximately 15-16 hours. You’ll then either take a second flight to one of the domestic airports or be transferred to your accommodation. If you’ve booked transfers with us, a Tropical Sky representative will greet you and guide you to your transfer vehicle.

Visa Requirements

Irish passport holders do not require a visa to enter the country.

While Malay is the only official language of Malaysia, English is widely spoken, even away from the major tourist areas and attractions.

If you’re only travelling on internal flights around the country, Tropical Sky can plan anything that you need. If you’d like to get out and explore you have a few options – buses are generally very cheap, reliable and relatively quick. Taxis are perfect for short distances. Trains, while generally reliable and reasonably priced, are bested by buses in almost every regard.

The Malaysian ringgit is the official currency, and other currencies are not generally accepted anywhere.

Health and Vaccinations

Check with your GP or specialist travel clinic for information regarding travel to Malaysia. Mosquito repellent is a very good idea, and it’s important to drink plenty of water when it gets hot.
