Spend two nights in vibrant Kuala Lumpur and visit the observation deck at the Petronas Towers, wonder around the boutiques and galleries of Jalan Kamunting or take a trip out of town to view Batu Caves; making sure you leave time to relax with a drink and enjoy the views from your rooftop bar and pool.
Moving on to your beach stay on Gaya Island, you will spend 5 nights enjoying tropical island life at this eco-luxury retreat with snorkelling trips, beach combing, relaxed waterfront dining – all from a hillside villa on stilts. (TM).

Days 1-2
Kuala Lumpur
Arrive in the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for the next 2 nights, ready for some ultimate exploring in this colourful, multicultural city. We have selected the Hotel Stripes as a luxurious stay where you can enjoy the rejuvenating pool and astounding city views from the rooftop bar.
Days 3-7
Gaya Island
On day 4 of your holiday, take a short flight over to Kota Kinabalu in Borneo. From here you will be taken to the jetty for check in and a 10 minute speedboat ride over to the luscious Gaya Island Resort to spend the next 5 nights relaxing in tranquillity.
This resort is nestled among thick mangrove forests in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, with gorgeous stilted villas tucked away and eco-luxury at its finest, priding itself on its ecologically sustainable practices, including preservation of the local wildlife.
Tuck into sustainably caught fresh seafood at Fisherman’s Cove, or enjoy a fine dining Japanese experience at Omakese. You could even indulge in a private dining experience – with your feet in the shallow reef, or a delicious lunch on Tavajun Bay.
The Spa Village adopts ancient traditions, giving you an authentic Borneo spa experience. Rice scrubs and Balinese massages will leave you feeling completely refreshed. During the day explore your surroundings, searching for proboscis monkeys and giant flying red squirrels or learn about the island’s conservation efforts at the Marine Centre. End the day with a Singgah Singgarung Night, where you’ll be given an insight into Borneo’s native arts and activities, alongside tucking into a tribal-style beach BBQ.
Day 8
Fly home
Check out and return to Kota Kinabalu airport (short boat ride followed by a car transfer for your flight home).
Alternatively stay a little longer in Kota Kinabalu at Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort and take our day tour to Sandakan for a wonderful experience and a chance to interact with Borneo’s Orangutan
