Overview

The Occidental at Xcaret Destination is located close to Xcaret eco-archaeological park and Playa del Carmen. With five swimming pools, eleven bars and eleven restaurants it never gets crowded and you can enjoy that relaxing experience that you deserve. A broad range of nightly entertainment and an excellent kids club there really is something for everyone here.

One of our favourite features is the private cove – indulge in the views of the sublime coastline, work up a tan on the sun-drenched sand or just go for a swim. This is a holiday that will give you the opportunity to rediscover the joy of the pure and simple. It is virtually next door to Xcaret Park*, which is well worth a visit for its breath-taking archaeological wonder. You don’t have to be an eco-tourist to marvel at the natural sights here – we made the most of snorkelling and bird watching.

This lovely resort boasts a location that mixes fascinating history with a relaxing ambience. Close by to Xcaret eco-archaeological park, you'll have plenty of opportunity to explore, whilst being nestled on Playa del Carmen will bless you with sugary beaches and plenty of time to unwind.

The following room types are available

  • Deluxe – featuring a King Size bed or Two Double beds, bathroom with shower and a terrace or balcony with tropical views.  Rooms are 32 sqm and sleep 3 adults and one child or 2 adults and 2 children.
  • Junior Suite – larger rooms with Two Double beds or a King Size bed with a sofa, bathroom with shower and balcony.  Rooms are 47sqm m and sleep max two adults and one child.  Guests in the Junior Suite also receive a bottle of sparkling wine in your room, chocolate covered strawberries and continental breakfast in bed on one morning during your stay (bookings must be made in advance with the concierge).

Make your stay extra special by upgrading to the Deluxe Concierge room.  Your room will be as described for the Deluxe category, with the special addition of  a platter of fruit and bottle of house wine on next day of arrival, premium bath amenities, bathrobes and slippers, concierge services, plus the minibar will be restocked every other day.

  • Le Buffet – international buffet open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Reservations are not required. Dress code: Smart casual.
  • Sonora Steak House – Offering grilled cuts, steaks and gourmet burgers.  Open for dinner only. Reservations are required. Dress code: Smart casual.

  • La Hacienda – delicious traditional Mexican cuisine.  Open for dinner only. Reservations are required. Dress code: Smart casual.
  • D’Oriental – a la carte Asian cuisine from China and Japan. Open for dinner only. Reservations are required. Dress code: Long trousers, collared shirt and closed shoes.
  • El Pescador – a la carte fish and seafood.  Open for dinner only. Reservations are required. Dress code: Long trousers, collared shirt and closed shoes.
  • La Piazza – serving authentic wood-fired pizza.  Open for 4pm - 2am. Reservations are not required. Dress code: Smart casual.
  • Paco’s Tacos – tacos and light Mexican fare.  Open 6pm - 2am. Casual dining - no reservations required.
  • El Lago – snack bar serving fast food.  Open 11.30am - 6pm. Casual dining - no reservations required.
  • Beach Club – International Buffet located right on the beachfront serving breakfast and lunch. Open 12.00-4.30pm. Casual dining - no reservations required.

DRESS CODE:

When dining, closed in shoes must be worn, bathing suits must be covered and men must not wear tank tops or sleeveless shirts. After 6.30pm men have to wear long trousers and women have to wear dresses, slacks or culottes (no shorts or short outfits).

A shuttle (approx US$25pp) is provided to the main dive base at sister resort Royal Hideaway Playacar where lessons are offered and dive excursions can be taken.   All fees payable locally.
