By far the largest country in the Caribbean, Cuba is in the west of the region curving just south of Florida and north of Jamaica.

While it’s famous for mojitos, cigars and Che Guevara, it could just as easily be famous for its pastoral architecture and butterscotch beaches.

Havana is haven of jaw-dropping (if slightly frayed at the edges) architecture and an atmosphere that’s unusually friendly for such a big city. Cuba comes into its own at the northern coastline, however, where you’ll find the paradise beaches and upmarket resorts of Varadero.

The Cuban people have been through a lot, but have come out the other side a very unique and very friendly bunch. The culture comes from primarily Hispanic influences and greets you with an intoxicating liveliness.
