Eating, drinking and enjoying the nightlife in Mexico

Eating

Cancun is a tourist destination through and through, and the cuisine on offer certainly reflects that. The large resorts will have plenty of restaurants to keep your happy for your stay, although there are plenty of off-site restaurants in the hotel zone and in the city centre. While it’s possible to find ‘authentic’ Mexican cuisine, the majority of Mexican restaurants cater to tourist taste buds so trying to enjoy local cuisine can be a little difficult, although La Destileria is an excellent exception.

You’ll be able to find virtually any cuisine you’re looking for in Cancun, but especially prevalent are Argentinian steakhouses, Mediterranean bistros and Japanese sushi bars. However, if you’re on the all-inclusive package, many resorts’ own restaurants will offer just as fine food.

Drinking and Nightlife

Cancun has a boisterous and energetic nightlife – it is the true definition of a party city. Nightclubs host famous guest DJs and the whole ethos revolves around having a great time into the early hours of the morning. Take a little time to research where might be best suited to you – there is plenty of choice on offer.

Coco Bongo is a night like no other with pop music blaring, the sights of twisting acrobats above you and dancing on the conga line – the expensive entry price covers all your drinks too. Tequila is unsurprisingly popular; waitresses will often come round offering shots at bars and clubs. Cancun being Cancun, you can find virtually any drink here, whether you like swanky cocktails or cheap beers.
