This boutique hotel is nothing short of breath-taking, and one of our favourite eco-friendly places for a remote and humbling experience. At every turn you’re greeted with sensational views of Licancabur Volcano or the Cordillera de Sal.

Surrounded by the earthy tones of the Atacama Desert, inside you’ll find that the hotel has continued this calming and sophisticated colour scheme. Locally made trinkets and crafts add a homely touch to the interiors, with fire pits on the outdoor terrace and handwoven throws bringing cosiness and comfort. The rooms are just as inviting, with beautiful views and natural furnishings.

A trip to the secluded Uma Spa will replenish your mind, body and soul with its stunning outdoor infinity pool and al fresco hot tub. Combining relaxation with adventure is Tierra Atacama’s ethos, and so the list of excursions is long and exhilarating, including hiking to Coyote Rock, swimming in the Altiplano lagoons, and horse riding through the desert. This beautiful hotel is secluded and quiet, located along the edge of San Pedro de Atacama, a small and charming village in northern Chile’s Atacama Desert.

All the rooms include:

  • Views over the Andes mountain range and nearby volcanoes
  • Private terrace overlooking Licancabur Volcano or the Cordillera de Sal
  • Interior and exterior showers
  • Air conditioning

Choose from:

  • Superior Oriente Rooms – Warming rooms adorned with cocoa-coloured soft furnishings, featuring a large canopy bed and floor-to-ceiling glass doors that look out onto the Licancabur Volcano. Ensuite with shower and private outdoor shower and a private terrace facing the Licancabur Volcano.
  • Superior Poniente Rooms – These rooms adopt a more contemporary vibe, with a sofa, a deep-soak bathtub and earthy colours inspired by the beautiful Cordillera de Sal views. Ensuite with bathtub and shower and a private terrace with views of the Licancabur Volcano.
  • Family Rooms – There are two family apartments which consist of three interconnected rooms. Enjoy earthy tones and lovely furnishings in these two-level rooms, featuring a master bedroom upstairs and two twin rooms downstairs. All the rooms are en-suite, and the room accommodates up to six guests. Featuring a large terrace facing the Lascar Volcano.

  • The Restaurant – Tierra Atacama offers an insightful and authentic taste of north Chilean cuisine, choosing to create meals with local produce and opting for lighter meals due to the warm temperatures. Enjoy salads that combine the colours of the rainbow, with Peruvian corn, quinoa and organic meat. The décor is bright and minimalist, with tall floor-to-ceiling windows that frame every wall.
  • The Bar – Located in the restaurant, the bar offers an array of wonderful craft beers, Chilean wines and teas, as well as the hotel’s signature Rica Rica Sour cocktail. Whilst enjoying your drink and the incredible views, ask for one of the decadent cheese platters, a hearty empanada or sticky kuchen cake.

  • Excursions – you can book an array of excursions including:
  • Stargazing
  • Half or full day walking and hiking
  • Horseback riding
  • Half day scenic voyages to the moon valley, Chaxa lagoon or hot springs
  • Full day scenic voyages to the salt flats, lagoons or Tatio geysers
  • Half day to the rainbow valley, astronomy (not available during full moon), full moon leisurely hike, full day bird watching or Devils Canyon
  • Cycling and swimming in natural lagoons
  • Main lounge with a fireplace and cosy seating
  • Cabanas and firepits on the outdoor terrace

  • Uma Spa – Meaning ‘water’ in the native Aymara language, this element plays an important part in the spa’s ethos. Overlooking Licancabur Volcano, the spa features an indoor and outdoor pool, an al fresco hot tub and a steam room. The relaxing treatments incorporate natural, local ingredients including clay, honey and sheep’s milk, and there’s even a yoga platform for moments of zen.

  • Transfer to and from Calama Airport
  • American breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Open Bar including mineral water, sodas, juices, house wines and liquors (premium wines and liquors with an additional cost)
  • Two half day excursions or one full day excursion with other guests included daily
