You’ll embark on plenty of unforgettable activities, from the iconic to the unique, including looking at Rio from above on Sugarloaf Mountain, discovering both sides of Iguazu Falls, visiting a traditional estancia (ranch) in San Antonio de Areco, and even meeting artists who help to create the Brazilian Carnival each year. This is a great option for culture enthusiasts who fancy a tour that’s different from the norm.

Day 1

Buenos Aires

Your tour begins in Buenos Aires. You’ll have a bit of time to explore this vibrant city, before meeting your fellow travellers to enjoy a fun cocktail reception in your hotel located in the trendy Recoleta neighbourhood. In the evening, you’ll visit La Ventana Tango House for a delicious Argentine dinner and decadent wine, served alongside a wonderful tango performance.

Day 2

Buenos Aires

Your day will start with a fascinating tour of Buenos Aires, exploring the Palermo district and Recoleta Cemetery to see where Evite Peron rests. You’ll then be driven along the renowned Avenida 9 de Julio, to discover the Teatro Colon opera house, the former church of Pope Francis I, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Presidential Palace ‘La Casa Rosada’ at Plaza de Mayo.

Next up is a trip to San Telmo, the city’s oldest neighbourhood and the birthplace of tango, before continuing on to the La Boca and Puerto Madero neighbourhoods. The afternoon is free for you to explore at your leisure – we’d recommend shopping at Calle de Florida or strolling through San Martin Park.

Day 3

Buenos Aires – San Antonio de Areco – Buenos Aires

After breakfast, you will cross the Argentine Pampas – which is South America’s version of the Wild West. You’ll then hop on a guided tour of the country village of San Antonio de Areco, known as the birthplace of gaucho (cowboy) traditions. The tour includes visiting local artisans and silversmiths, as well as enjoying a delicious asado lunch in a traditional estancia (cattle ranch).

You’ll then have some time to enjoy the ranch and take part in a few optional activities, including a horseback ride, a scenic horse-drawn carriage ride, or meeting an authentic gauchos to learn more about the lifestyle. The evening is free for you to enjoy at your leisure.

Day 4

Buenos Aires – Iguazu Falls, Brazil

Today you will fly to Iguazu Falls – one of the most stunning waterfalls in the world. You’ll then hop on the Rainforest Ecological Train inside the national park and venture to the Argentine side for another view of this natural wonder – we’d recommend walking to the platform that overlooks the breath-taking Devil’s Throat. You’ll then travel back to the Brazilian side and check in to your resort, ending the day with a hearty dinner.

Day 5

Iguazu Falls

Your morning will be spent soaking in the incredible views of the waterfall from the Brazilian side. Your local guide will show you around, meanwhile telling the tale of how Brazil and Argentina have fought to protect the falls by making each side a national park. The afternoon is free for you to either relax in the resort or board an optional jungle boat ride at the base of the falls.

Day 6

Iguazi Falls – Rio de Janeiro

Begin the day with a flight to Rio de Janeiro, a vibrant city home to gorgeous beaches, decadent cuisine, and iconic attractions. Today you’ll have the chance to explore the top of Sugarloaf Mountain and take in the amazing views, before checking into your hotel in the exclusive Leblon neighbourhood and learning how to create caipirinhas – Brazil’s most well-known cocktail.

The evening will be spent enjoying a delicious dinner at Rio Scenarium, known for its fantastic live music.

Day 7

Rio de Janeiro

Begin with a train journey to Corcovado, to see the iconic Christ the Redeemer and soak up the stunning views of the city and Tijuca Forest National Park. You’ll then visit a local open-air market ith a guide and taste an array of delicious exotic fruits from Brazil. The afternoon is free for you to explore on your own.

Day 8

Rio de Janeiro

Day eight gets off to a fun start, stepping behind the scenes of the famous Carnival to meet the artists who design the costumes, dances and floats ready for the big annual event. The evening will be spent embarking on a city tour which includes visiting the Maracana football stadium (which hosted the 2014 World Cup finals), the Carnival parade route, and the Metropolitan Cathedral with Mayan pyramid-inspired architecture.

Afterwards, you’ll join your group for a farewell feast at an authentic Brazilian churrascaria.

Day 9

Rio de Janeiro

Today marks the end of your tour. Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
