Overview

Settled amongst the rugged mountains of Oman’s Musandam Peninsula, Six Senses Zighy Bay is a beautiful hotel with spectacular views of the mountains on one side, and the sugary sands of Zighy Bay on the other.

With its own marina, two fabulous swimming pools and an award-winning spa, Six Senses Zighy Bay will easily make you feel pampered and relaxed, and that’s before you’ve even seen the villas. All of the properties are built with natural stone and woods, creating a rustic luxury feel, and feature their own private pool and Guest Experience Maker (GEM) or butler service. The beachfront villas are the most lavish, with the pristine beach just steps away from your private pool.

Six Senses Zighy Bay prides itself on its unique dining experiences. Dine on decadent three, five, seven or nine-course set menus under the stars atop a scenic mountain at Sense On the Edge, or treat the family to a traditional Bedouin experience at Shua Shack.

The Six Senses Spa and indulgent pools are perfect for couples hoping to unwind together. There’s plenty here that makes the hotel a fabulous choice for families too – the Chaica’s (kid’s) club and Al Feetean’s (teen’s) club offer a variety of fun hands-on activities, including treasure hunts and Hajar rock painting for the kids, and moonlight kayaking, adventure hikes and raft building for the teens.

Arrival and border crossing process

Please note that whilst the majority of visitors fly into Dubai International airport to reach Zighy Bay, the resort is in Oman, not the UAE. UK, Ireland & US citizens are among those nationalities who do not currently need to apply in advance for an entry Visa for the UAE and can obtain the tourist Visa on arrival, but please check the latest visa information in good time prior to travel.
An Oman visa is not required to visit Zighy Bay so long as you have a valid UAE Tourist Visa which entitles the holder to a 15 or 30 days stay and is non-renewable.

Border Crossing Regulations: Dubai International Airport is 175km (a driving time of approximately 2 hours) from to Six Senses Zighy Bay. Your passport is required when you cross the border at Dibba from UAE to Oman and vice versa. The crossing point is 15 minutes from the arrival gate into the resort. You will require a border pass which is provided by the resort and we can help arrange this. To enable us to do so you must send us a colour scanned copy of the photo page of your passport ideally 14 days prior but no later than 7 days prior to the start of your holiday. The Dibba border is under the control of Sharjah Police. The border pass will be issued from the border office on the same day of your arrival and it will directly deposited by the border police at the checkpoint on the same day of your arrival. Please also note that the checkpoint is not open until 09:00am each day. Please ensure you carry your passports with you to present at the checkpoint for verification against the border pass.

Please ensure you comply with entry requirements for Dubai and Oman.

Ramadan and Eid Al Adha

The holy month of Ramadan will be celebrated in Oman every year according to the lunar cycle, and dates vary. During Ramadan, Muslims all over the world abstain from food, drink and other physical needs during daylight hours. As a result, there are many restrictions in place during this time. Hotel restaurants and local city restaurants are closed until Iftar (the fast-breaking evening meal after sunset), though some hotels let one restaurant open for buffet breakfast and lunch. Alcohol is restricted in public, but can be delivered to the room. Non-Muslims are not expected to fast but be aware that in Oman you cannot eat, drink, smoke, or chew gum in public.

Eid Al Fitr, otherwise known as the Festival of Sweets, is an annual Muslim holiday that celebrates the ‘breaking of the fast’, and dates vary. Eid Al Adha is the second major holiday celebrated annually in the UAE, and dates vary. During these festivities, the UAE can be very busy, however, there are no restrictions during these times.

Find out Ramadan and El Ad Adha dates on our Oman overview page.

Please ensure you are aware of these restrictions, and that they are subject to change.
