Overview
Although accommodation is quite basic, the experience is unparalleled; there are no other lodges around and as you head out on the river, there is nothing to interrupt the natural spectacle. Keep binoculars in hand and watch for trees moving to spot proboscis monkeys, long-tailed macaques, hornbills, crocodiles or even the elusive pygmy elephant or a wild orang-utan. Highly recommended is the sunset cruise, a perfect time to see the forest’s inhabitants moving around and as night falls and you cruise back to the lodge for dinner, watch as luminescent fire flies light up the trees.
Meals, which are all included, are taken in a riverfront restaurant with local produce on offer, serving up Bornean and Western options; local catch of the day will have been supplied by local tribes and could not be any fresher! Your overnight accommodation is in wooden chalets joined by wooden boardwalks, simply furnished with double or twin beds, as well as a desk, ceiling fan, netted windows and an en suite bathroom that uses recycled water.
Children are warmly welcomed at the lodge by the friendly staff, and family rooms sleeping up to 2 adults and 2 children are available. Older children will delight in the short yet fruitful river safaris and the easily manageable boardwalk nature trail (DTM).
