Fuerteventura is one of our favourite islands for a fun family holiday away from the usual Spanish hot spots. The young at heart will love the many adventures on offer here, whether that’s partaking in thrilling water sports, exploring the jaw-dropping sand dunes of Corralejo, or searching for turtles at Playa de Cofete. Isla de Lobos, a gorgeous islet just north of Fuerteventura, is a wonderful nature reserve perfect for a family day out – you may even see rare birds.

Why visit Fuerteventura?

There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the island’s stunning natural landscape. Hike up Mirador Astronómico de Sicasumbre to soak up the incredible vistas during the day, or venture here at night for incredible star-gazing opportunities. Parque Natural de Corralejo is also fantastic for hiking across seemingly never-ending yellow dunes.
Fuerteventura is of course excellent for dining and drinking, but our favourite foodie hot spot has to be El Cotillo. A popular destination with avid surfers, this former fishing village has a lovely strip of tapas bars, artisan shops, and gorgeous views of the sea.
Playa de Cofete is a beautiful beach well-worth visiting. For a romantic afternoon, why not horse ride along the sand?
