Arrival in San Jose
Upon arrival in San Jose Airport, transfer to your hotel in the city centre. Spend some time relaxing and soaking up the sights as your adventure begins in the colourful capital city.

Day 2
San Jose – Coffee Plantation – Guanacaste
Leave the capital behind as you head to a local coffee plantation for a guided tour, which highlights the history and cultivation processes of this Costa Rican economic driver. This afternoon, you’ll arrive in the breath-taking Guanacaste, known for its fine white sandy beaches and biodiverse parkland. Settle in for a luxurious two-night stay in your resort, and take a relaxing stroll along the beach with mesmerising ocean views.

Day 3
Guanacaste
Today can be spent at leisure exploring the nearby beaches, or simply relax by the pool and take advantage of the resort’s wonderful amenity selection.

Day 4
Guanacaste – Monteverde
After breakfast, it’s off to the peaceful and secluded Monteverde Cloud Forest, home to magnificent trees which grow up to 100 feet. Set off on a guided nature walk through this spectacular ecosystem, where you’ll spot an incredible abundance of flora and fauna – you may even be lucky enough to spot the elusive quetzal.

Day 5
Monteverde Cloud Forest
There’s a huge choice of activities to enjoy today; explore one of the world’s largest butterfly gardens and a dazzling gallery which contains over a hundred hummingbirds. Then, you can join an expert for a leisurely-paced walking tour of the ‘Hanging Bridges’ to gain a unique perspective of the cloud forest’s luscious ecosystem. Alternatively, you may take an exhilarating ride on one of the longest canopy zip line tours in Costa Rica; this evening, enjoy an expert-led discussion about the migratory birds that flock to Costa Rica.

Day 6
Monteverde – Lake Arenal Cruise – Arenal
Learn about the importance of conservation in Costa Rica during a visit to a tree nursery; learn about indigenous trees and Monteverde’s reforestation efforts. Cross the beautiful mountainous landscapes to Arenal, where unforgettable views of the famous volcano await your discovery. Delight in a picturesque cruise on Lake Arenal, Costa Rica’s largest and most important lake. Later, check in for another two-night stay in a cosy lodge overlooking the majestic Arenal Volcano.

Day 7
Arenal – Cano Negro – Arenal
Today, you’re headed for a guided riverboat trip in a covered canoe along Cano Negro. Spanning over 20,000 acres of land home to the largest viewable collection of indigenous wildlife in the whole of Costa Rica, you’ll go in search of caimans, river otters, sloths, monkeys, river turtles, exotic birds and rare butterflies. Later on, return to Arenal for the chance to visit a luxurious spa and indulge in a rejuvenating treatment or massage.

Day 8
Arenal – Zarcero – San Jose
After breakfast, you will journey to the charming town of Zarcero to explore its fanciful and unique topiary garden. From here, you’ll continue to San Jose to discover the city’s treasures on a panoramic guided tour; see the bustling Plaza de Cultura and the National Theatre – a fabulous sample of grand neoclassical architecture. This evening, join your fellow explorers for a farewell dinner, reminiscing over your magnificent adventure.

Day 9
San Jose – End of Tour
Today marks the end of your Costa Rican tour. Check-out of the hotel and if you have some spare time before heading to the airport, take a final walk around the ambient downtown area of San Jose. Transfer to the airport in plenty of time to catch your departing flight home.
