Why Brenda & Graham keep coming back to St Lucia for more

Brenda and Graham travelled to St Lucia and stayed at Rendezvous. Here's what they had to say:

malabar beach at rendezvous

This was our 7th visit to the Caribbean, Grenada twice and our 5th time to Rendezvous in St Lucia. Since our first visit there have been many improvements, a new gym, spa, champagne bar and this year a beachside restaurant - the Malabar Beach Club.  Improvements have also taken place to the beach and a new breakwater which makes swimming much safer.  In the last couple of years the rooms have all had a makeover.  A lot of the staff have been there many years and welcome you back as long lost friends.

Our reasons for choosing Rendezvous were that it was an all inclusive couples only resort with a variety of “body exercise” facilities.  We are not into water sports but particularly enjoy the yoga, Pilates and tai chi available in the mornings, albeit from 7.00am.  Pauline the main instructor is very qualified and very helpful. These coupled with walks up to the lighthouse, along the beach, into Castries as well as a cycle ride to Castries gives the opportunity to exercise as well as relax.

Dining is very relaxed in the main restaurant for breakfast, lunch and evening meal which is a mixture of buffet and a la carte on varying nights.  The Trysting restaurant is smart casual with a full a la carte menu.  The new beach restaurant is very casual and as its name suggests is situated on the beach.  At all the restaurants good quality bottled wine is included with the option of paying for better quality wines, if required. The champagne bar has a different sparkling wine to try each evening along with the local, Gilbert playing the piano.  Evening entertainment is varied from the St Lucia Police band to groups, disco and limbo dancing after the beach BBQ.

There is a resident travel agent desk as well as the UK tour companies having their own reps visit most days.  This year, after chickening out last year, we went on the zip wire experience up in the north of the island.  We were both apprehensive but thoroughly enjoyed the 9 zip wires even zipping backwards and using no hands by the end.  Other trips we have done are the catamaran down to the Pitons and a helicopter trip round the island, both very enjoyable.

My advice is that unless you intend spending a lot of time in the room go for a third floor Garden Room, why pay more for a room you are hardly in, other than for sleeping.  They do have in room coffee machines, iron and board, iPod docking station and a balcony with two chairs and a table.  Take large towel pegs (available from Lakeland Plastics) to keep the freely available beach towels in place on the sun beds as it can be windy at times, depending on the time of the year.

We can thoroughly recommend Rendezvous for a relaxing and very enjoyable holiday.

We would like to thank  Brenda & Graham for sharing their story with us and hope to welcome you on another holiday soon..
