Overview

This stunning resort is found on the silky white shores of Nyali Beach, adorned by incredible ocean views and luscious landscaped gardens, the location evokes a serene, laid-back island feel. Exchange your vows in paradise at the vibrant Voyager Beach Resort with a classic, gorgeous beach wedding decorated in traditional African touches.

With our Classic Wedding option, you’ll both enjoy an intimate dinner for two at the incredibly romantic Smugglers Cove restaurant, as well as a wedding cake, bottle of sparkling wine, a complimentary room upgrade, breakfast in bed the following morning, a beautiful venue setup and many more wonderful treats. We recommend upgrading to our Premier Wedding for a truly pampering and traditional wedding celebration, offering traditional Kenyan Dancers to perform in the ceremony, professional wedding photos and a video, a bridal hairdresser, a His & Hers aromatherapy massage and more.

This fabulous ship-themed retreat is a great choice for families, offering a wide range of child-friendly activities, a children’s pool and a kids’ club, whilst the parents can enjoy refreshing cocktails in one of the four bars, as well as unique, sumptuous cuisine in three restaurant choices. There’s also a beachfront relaxation pool to unwind in a sublime atmosphere and soak up the sunshine on a plush lounger.

Voyager is famous for hosting some of Africa’s finest family entertainments and animation programmes, including unique themed journeys across the seven seas, culinary extravaganzas, and special music, fashion, comedy and acrobatic shows. Moored ten kilometres north of Mombasa city centre, this resort offers a fantastic location with easy access to a huge variety of historical, sporting and cultural attractions, including Africa’s largest crocodile farm and the world-famous Haller Park. Undoubtedly our favourite aspect of this resort is the beach, with its beautiful white sand, great water for swimming and enormous variety of water sports. The clear sea is perfect for scuba diving – and if you’ve never tried it before there is a dive centre with qualified instructors.

  • If you have been divorced and have reverted to using your maiden name then this counts as a name change and proof will be required.

Affidavit – This document is a signed statement made by both Bride& Groom in the presence of a solicitor in which they swear that information given is true.  The document must be drawn up on headed paper of the solicitor who must then stamp & sign it.

Letter Of No Trace - This is a document required in some destinations, which states that there is no impediment to the proposed marriage.  These certificates vary in the length of time they are valid so it is important to check which apply to your circumstances.  The certificate is prepared by the Superintendent Registrar at the Register Office in the area you live. This replaces the old advice for the Certificate of No Impediment. A no trace letter costs £50 and can be obtained from the General Register Office by calling +44 (0)300 123 1837 (8am to 8pm Monday to Friday).

Before you travel:

Guests marrying at hotels in Kenya will need to send original documents via DHL to the resort at least 12 weeks before the date of travel.  If marrying on safari, please remember that you will need to spend at least 2 working days in Nairobi to complete wedding formalities before travelling to your chosen safari.

Translation of documents

All legal documents must be in English or legally translated into English. All translated documents must be from a legal translator with letterhead, stamp and seal from the translator's office or notarised by a Notary Public.  Occasionally the documentation will have to be sent to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for their approval before being sent back to the notary to sign.

The Wedding Ceremony

In most destinations, your wedding ceremony will be conducted Monday to Friday (excluding local holidays).  In some destinations, local festivals and holidays will determine available wedding dates.  Generally, your wedding will take place in the grounds of the hotel unless otherwise specified.  Many hotels offer wedding gazebos for extra privacy.  Some hotels may offer more than one wedding per day with the first wedding taking place at around 10am with the last wedding at 4pm.  The majority of our weddings are conducted by a marriage officer whose title varies depending on the resort.  Where it is possible to be married by a Minister, the ceremony will be non-denominational unless otherwise stated and will be a Civil wedding.

Tropical Sky Weddings and the information given above only apply to couples that were born in the UK or Ireland and hold a valid UK/Irish passport (with at least 6 months validity on return home).  If couples do not fulfil these requirements they must advise us.  Couples should be referred to the embassy of the country of origin and the country where they wish to marry as they may require extra documentation to satisfy their own embassy requirements – Tropical Sky cannot advise on this and couples must investigate this on their own. As Tropical Sky weddings have no jurisdiction over hotels/resorts/venues/legal requirements and their charges, we cannot be responsible for any increases or changes to these wedding arrangements.  We will, however, endeavour to advise you of changes as soon as we are made aware of them.
