Sunday Bangkok
we explore the city and visit the Grand Palace, an enormous reclining Buddha, and Chinatown’s food markets. We take a longtail boat on the Chao Phraya River, enjoy a scrumptious Thai feast on the Manohra boat cruise, and discover the wonderful antique collection in Jim Thompson’s house. Use your free time in the evening to shop at famous night markets, or explore an amazing array of restaurants and nightlife options. Overnight at Silom Supreme (B,L)

Day 5
Tuesday Bangkok- Kanchanaburi and the River Kwai
Kanchanaburi is a lovely riverside town and a nice respite to the bustle of Bangkok. Beautiful natural scenery, floating restaurants and welcoming people represent the Kanchanaburi of today. The town is also home to some very telling recent history; we visit its sobering cemeteries dedicated to soliders from many nations who were killed in World War II. We learn more about that period of history in the fascinating Hell Fire Pass Museum before we take a ride on the famious Death Railway across the Bridge on the River Kwai, made famous by the 1957 Oscar winning film by the same name.Overnight at Pung Waan (B)
Day 6
Wednesday -Ayuthaya & Mekhala River Barge Cruise
We travel to one of Asia’s great former capitals, Ayuthaya and explore striking temple ruins. Return to Bangkok along the Chao Phraya River aboard a custom-built river barge, indulging in scrumptious Thai food on deck. Day 7
Thursday Ayuthaya- Chang Mai
Drive to Bankok airport and fly to Chiang Mai, former capital of the ancient Lanna Kingdom where we begin our discovery of the north with a cyclo tour inside the old city walls. In the evening explore the famous night market, a throwback to the days when Yunnanese trading caravans visited the city. Rydges Amora Tapae (B)
Day 8
Friday Chang Mai
Enjoy a fun half-day cooking class, rounding off your lesson by feasting on your creations. We visit serene Doi Suthep temple and lunch on Khao Soi soup, the north’s most famous dish. End your journey with an airport transfer for your onward travels.
