Stylish, cool and fun

Spain has Ibiza, and Greece has Mykonos. Home to amazing beach parties, stylish boutiques and cool bars, it’s a popular island for big groups of friends looking for fun in the sun. Delve a little further though, and you’ll see that there’s more than meets the eye.

Head to the old town of Mykonos, also known as Hora, to explore the narrow white-washed streets lined with tiny churches, boutiques and seafront restaurants decked in colourful bougainvillea. Meanwhile, glamorous Matogliani offers shops filled with Greek designers, and Mavrogenous street is great for art galleries. Despite the quieter daytimes in Hora, the town is also home to great bars and clubs in the evening – there’s a fabulous selection of gay-friendly venues, too.

Mykonos is a very stylish island, and there’s simply nothing better than enjoying a glass of champagne as the sun sets, soaking up the warm vibes and taking in the incredible cobalt blue waters.

Why visit Mykonos?

  • The beauty of Mykonos is that there is a beach for everyone. Of course, there’s the bustling beaches with glossy sun worshippers in the day and frivolous party-goers in the evening: Paraga and Psarou are famous for this. If you’re bringing the family to Mykonos, Elia has beautiful white sands and safe waters, or if you want a more relaxed beach experience, head to the north of the island and visit Panormos, whilst Ornos offers delightful restaurants.
  • Mykonos is one of the livelier Greek islands, meaning there is much to do during the day and night. We recommend booking a day trip to the sacred island of Delos – just a 30–45-minute boat ride away, this beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site is the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite and Apollo, and has a brilliant museum and archaeological attractions. Back in Mykonos, you’ll discover excellent diving, enthralling water sports and sensational sunset watching.
  • It’ll come as no surprise that Mykonos offers delicious cuisine. There are plenty of charming tavernas to try, including the popular Nikos Taverna with classic fare and fun Greek entertainment, but you’ll find lots of other cuisines across the island too. You’ll find that pretty much every beach has at least one restaurant, one of our favourites being Kiki’s Taverna set above Agios Sostis beach where you can enjoy long lunches that soon turn into a sunset cocktail at the open-air bar.
