A picturesque fishing port

When the crowds of Dubrovnik and Split get too much, Rovinj is the perfect respite. A small fishing town that was once an island until the channel separating it was filled back in 1763, Rovinj is utterly charming. Take the time to enjoy the colourful small squares and waterfront, all home to a bundle of fantastic restaurants and cafes that celebrate the town’s great seafood, cured meats and olive oil.

Days spent here are chilled and slow, giving you a taste of the calmer Croatian lifestyle.

Why visit Rovinj?

  • Rovinj’s lush forest and gorgeous rolling hills offer the ideal home for producing decadent olive oil and herbs, whilst the town also well-known for its divine cured meats, cheese, figs and honey. There are a number of great restaurants that celebrate the fabulous locally sourced and reared food that Rovinj is so proud of.
  • Enjoy a day out to explore the Rovinj Archipelago’s 14 islands – particularly the much-loved St Andrija with its ancient church and charming lighthouse, and St Katarina to explore the picturesque forests and hidden bays. Many of the islands present a lovely day out away from the crowds.
  • If you’re hoping for a dose of culture, take a trip to the Baroque church St Euphemia, perched on a hilltop and giving you the chance to climb to the top of the steeple for panoramic views of Rovinj. Built from 1725-36, this is a fantastic example of Croatia’s history.
