John & Lindsey’s All Inclusive Barbados getaway to remember

John and Lindsey travelled to Barbados and stayed at The SoCo Hotel for an All Inclusive holiday. Here's what they had to say about their time on the island...

My wife and I were considering a Caribbean Holiday for 2016 when Tropical Sky's Beaches and Beyond brochure came through our door. We were immediately attracted to Mike Collins, The Managing Director's recommendation about The SoCo Hotel, Barbados.

We travelled in May 2016 and the hotel, location and fantastic staff lived up to all our expectations. Our room was spacious, with a balcony and overlooking the pool area and the blue Caribbean Sea.

The hotel is located close to Bridgetown - close enough to walk or catch the local Reggie Buses at $1 dollar per journey. My wife and I walked back from Bridgetown along the number of small beaches towards The SoCo Hotel. You must visit Bridgetown for its wonderful Carlisle Bay Beach, National Heroes Square, Cathedral, Synagogue, Marina and shops. Going the other direction from the Hotel there is a Boardwalk that starts at The SoCo Hotel and takes you down to Rockley Beach, another superb beach for swimming.

A highlight of our stay was the wonderful food, whether it was breakfast, lunch or evening meals. We stayed for 9 nights, on all-inclusive and throughout our stay there was plenty of choice. The fish meals were particularly mouth-watering. The bar served all manner of alcoholic drinks and my wife and I made our way through the cocktail list, some cocktails on several occasions - our earliest cocktail at 10:20am! The sea opposite the Hotel is full of small, colourful fish and an ideal spot for snorkelling.

Another highlight of the holiday was going to the Pebbles Beach to see the race horses swimming in the sea. You have to be there early - the horses are walked down from their stables from 06:00 to 07:30 on both Sunday and Thursday mornings. On holiday with a 05:30 wake-up call! Pebbles Beach is only 15 minutes’ walk away and takes you past the Barbados Horse Racing Stadium and Course. The horse attendants are all very friendly and willing to tell you about their particular horse. After seeing the horses in the sea my wife and I visited the stables and walked part way around the Racing Course. The race meetings are fortnightly on Saturday afternoons.

A wow moment is the catamaran trip we did from Bridgetown that takes you to swim with the turtles in Carlisle Bay.

A thing we noticed on a number of occasions is if we stood at the side of the road to cross to the other side the traffic would immediately stop to let you cross. Such unexpected courtesy - lessons to be learnt in the UK!

The holiday however would not have been the same without the fantastic friendly staff. From the reception staff, cleaners, general staff, bar staff, waiters and management- they were all wonderful which made for a truly magical holiday, with memories that will last forever."

We would like to thank John & Lindsey for sharing their story with us and hope to welcome you on another holiday soon.
