Overview

This comfortable rail safari uses the modern Madaraka Express to transport you first class from Nairobi to Mombasa with two safari stops on route.  Offering a comfortable, leisurely, eco-friendly way to transverse the country, this is a very popular option.

Your safari will be operated by the trained lodge drivers in their purpose build 4 x 4 safari vehicles.

Your safari at either lodge can be extended if you want to stay longer and we will of course tailor your beach stay to tie in perfectly with this safari.  This safari is also available in reverse from Mombasa to Nairobi.

Important Luggage Restriction: Soft Sided Bags only, with max weight of 30kg per person.

Day 1

Following collection from your Nairobi Hotel or Nairobi International Airport, your train from Nairobi train station will depart around 8am.  The train journey time is around 2 hours.  Passing through both rural areas and game viewing areas, there is always plenty to see from your comfortable seats.  On arrival into Emali station, you will be met and transported by the lodge staff for check in and lunch enjoying your first game viewing on route.  Take an afternoon game drive before returning for sunset. Tonight you will enjoy a Bush Barbeque. All meals included.

Overnight: Serena Safari Lodge, Amboseli, Full Board

Day 2

After breakfast, enjoy another game drive and later continue to Tsavo West by road arriving at your lodge for lunch.  After a few hours relaxing, take your afternoon game drive.  You can also take an exciting night game drive this evening.  All meals included.

Overnight: Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge, Tsavo West, Full Board

Day 3

After an early breakfast, take an escorted nature walk before heading to Mitito Andei train station for your three-hour onwards journey to Mombasa to start your beach stay.
