Useful facts for your holiday to Singapore

Flight and Transfers

Flights from Dublin to Singapore take around 15 hours. If you’ve booked transfers with us you’ll be met on arrival by a Tropical Sky representative who will help you find your transfer vehicle.

Visa Requirements

Irish passport holders do not require a visa to enter Singapore.

Language

There are four official languages: Malay, English, Mandarin Chinese and Tamil. English is the effective lingua franca; everyone is able to moderately understand and speak it. You may also hear the local patois, Singlish, which combines English with sentence structure and words from the other official languages.

Transportation

Singapore’s public transport system is extensive and well run. The MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) railway is one of the best ways to get around – it’s quick, easy and cheap. Buses are a more scenic option, although the system for paying is a little more complicated and journeys take a little longer. Taxis are reasonably priced but a little scarce and trishaw three-wheel bicycle taxis are an expensive but novel way of seeing the city while you get from place to place. In the city centre, cycling and walking are completely reasonable options.

Currency

The Singapore Dollar is the official currency.

Electricity

230V/50Hz standard British plug

Vaccinations and Health

Check with your GP or specialist travel clinic before travelling for information regarding health. It gets very hot and humid in Singapore, so be sure to drink a lot of water.
